Gelato is Italian ice cream with its unique characteristics. Gelato contains only 12% butter fat compared to 18-26% in most ice cream. However, less fat does not mean less taste. Typically ice cream is produced by mixing cream, milk and sugar, then adding air. No air is added to gelato. The result is a smoother, richer, creamier taste with an intense flavor and significantly less butterfat. While both gelato and ice cream are served well below the freezing temperature of 32 degrees Fahrenheit, gelato is served 10 to 15 degrees warmer than ice cream. Because it is less solidly frozen, gelato’s taste is further enhanced as it melts in the mouth.
Sorbetto or Sorbet contains 70-80% real fruit with a touch of water and sugar to achieve a smooth consistency. Gelato Amore’s sorbets contain no coloring or any other artificial ingredients. Our sorbets are dairy-free, fat-free and cholesterol-free.
